Assassin's Creed Reveals Unexpected Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising partnership that defies conventional predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Questline Revealed
According to the formal release, "A mysterious encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where whispers of forbidden rituals and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The plot features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the pair with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a secret group.
The mission concentrates on "strange trials and a terrifying foe" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Metamorphoses
The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser concludes with a dramatic scene showing a character, likely the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Bonus Content
Players who finish the mission will receive an exclusive katana together with several artifacts concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Update
This patch also introduces the game's third free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This humorous adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

The series formerly showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
